Services

About Literacy Lambton   Headquartered in the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre in the heart of Sarnia’s downtown district, Literacy Lambton’s mission is to create and deliver exceptional literacy learning opportunities for the residents of Lambton County. We help adults 18+ improve their reading, writing, math, basic computer skills and digital knowledge through one-to-one, in-person, or synchronous virtual learning; and offer FREE in-person family literacy outreach programs. Our service is amplified by passionate volunteers, from our governance Board to our frontline program. Check us out at www.literacylambton.org or connect with us on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn @literacylambton. Literacy Lambton—formerly Organization for Literacy in Lambton—has been powering people’s potential since 1989. Registered charitable #: 135262012 RR0001

Volunteer Roles

The lifeblood of Literacy Lambton is our volunteers! We are run by a volunteer governance Board. Various positions exist on our non-Board committees including Finance and Promotions. This can be an entry point spring boarding into a future Board opening. Our volunteer mentors work in our learning space 1:1 or in small group settings with adult learners. Volunteers assist the smooth-running of our kids’ programs. Opportunities may exist for high school students to attain their volunteer hours including Train Your Brain, Summer Reading Buddies, and one-off volunteer roles. Contact us, info@literacylambton.org to see how your skills & interests match with a meaningful experience as a Literacy Lambton volunteer. All volunteers are interviewed to find the best fit and opportunity for you. A police/vulnerable sector record check is required for all volunteers 18 years of age and older. Volunteers are provided with an orientation/on-boarding process.
