Description

The Disaster Management program at the Red Cross strives to educate the public on Personal Disaster Preparedness through public meetings and educational presentation. Disaster Management volunteers also respond, when requested by emergency services, to disasters ranging from personal disasters such as a house fire, to larger scale municipal and multiple-municipal such as evacuations for natural diasters.

Training Provided

All training is provided, and geared to the interests and goals of the volunteer based on the programs needs. Minimum of Standard First Aid/CPR, “Introduction to Disaster Services: and Level One” training is required to respond to disasters.

Skills Required

Candidates should have high personal initiative and good oral, written and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills are also an asset.

Additional Information

Volunteers are required to be “on call”, based on scheduling of the volunteers availablility.
