VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: We are seeking a special ‘Unicorn’ to join our Governance Board but also to Chair and lead our Fundraising Committee.

Have you been described as “dynamic”, an “out-of-the-box thinker”, a “natural born leader”, a “doer”, “the Energizer Bunny in human form”?

We are looking for a driven and talented volunteer who is passionate about our mission, capable of dreaming up and helping execute fundraising ideas and events. More than that, we are looking for someone exceptionally well-organized, capable of engaging other volunteers towards common goals, and someone adept at keeping everyone on-task. You might be a currently working professional with flexibility in your schedule, a recent graduate looking for experience in events or fundraising, or you might be retired and looking for a volunteer role to really sink your teeth into.

Who We Are:

Located in the heart of Sarnia’s downtown district at the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre, we are dedicated to enhancing literacy and lifelong learning across Lambton County. Since 1989, we have been committed to empowering individuals of all ages by providing exceptional literacy learning opportunities that improve reading, writing, numeracy, and digital skills. Our services are designed to support adults (18+) through one-on-one, in-person, or synchronous virtual learning, as well as free family and children’s literacy outreach programs. We believe literacy is a vital tool for personal growth and social inclusion, and we are proud to amplify our mission through the dedication of passionate volunteers—from our Board of Directors to our frontline staff. As we continue to evolve, we invite others to join us in shaping the future of literacy in our community.

As a member of our Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to influence key organizational decisions, advocate for literacy in the Sarnia-Lambton community, and contribute to the continued success and growth of Literacy Lambton.
