Adopt-a-Driveway is a community-driven program designed to support seniors and individuals living with a disability who are unable to clear snow and ice from their driveways and walkways during the winter months. Our volunteers “adopt” a driveway and commit to keeping it safe and accessible by shoveling snow and applying ice melt as needed. This service helps seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, and others in need maintain independence and safety at home, and is open to those individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford paid snow-removal services. By reducing slip-and-fall risks and ensuring clear access for emergency services, we promote a safer, more inclusive community. Volunteers not only provide practical assistance but also foster a sense of connection and care among neighbors, while ensuring members of our community can continue to access vital services during the winter months.
Volunteer Roles in Adopt-a-Driveway: Our program relies on dedicated volunteers who help keep driveways and walkways safe during the winter season. Volunteers can sign up as individuals or a team to remove snow and apply ice melt for one or more assigned households whenever it snows more than three inches between December and April. This role ensures residents can safely enter and exit their homes and reduces the risk of slips and falls. Adopt-a-Driveway program
