We are recruiting for positions in our Minds in Motion Social Recreation Program.
Minds in Motion is a social recreation program that incorporates physical and mental stimulation for people with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. This program is designed for the care partner to participate with the person with dementia.
Volunteer position description:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with set-up and clean-up of refreshments, games, and activity materials
- Support the Minds in Motion® Coordinator in encouraging activity participation and social engagement, including providing one-on-one support when needed
- Under the direction of the Certified Exercise Facilitator, provide one-on-one assistance to participants during the physical activity portion of the program
- Assist with other program-related tasks as required
Volunteer Qualifications
- Enjoy working with others and are comfortable initiating conversation and including participants
- Patient, friendly, and comfortable in a non-competitive, inclusive environment
- Experience communicating with older adults
- Physically able to participate in the activity component of the program
- Able to commit in 8-week program intervals
- Own transportation is needed – spots available in Sarnia and Corunna groups
