Description

The Couples Mentoring program matches a married or common-law couple aged 21 and over who would like to share the joys and rewards of befriending a child together. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentors and mentees that is built on trust and common interests and is supported by an experienced Caseworker. Couples generally spend about 80% of their time together with the Little Brother allowing some one to one time with child.

Training Provided: Yes Training is provided for the volunteers as well as resources and support from an agency Caseworker
Skills Required: - Have the ability to relate to young people and adults, and to adapt to change - Be reliable, honest, trustworthy and fun to hang out with - Be collaborative, patient and positive - Access to a vehicle to transport to community activities with mentee - Can commit to mentoring approximately once a week for at least a year - Can Function within the guidelines of the Agency - Support the mission of the Agency
Activities: The Couples, aged 21 and older who are in a committed , stable married or common-law relationship for at least a year are matched with a child who could benefit from a relationship with a Couple as positive role models. They share 4 hours a week in a unique two to one relationship and provides an opportunity where Couples can Volunteer together sharing in activities each week with a child. An example of activities may include community events, sports, crafts and board games.
