Services

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Sarnia-Lambton provides responsible guidance in the development of life skills to the children of our community through companionship with adult volunteers. Provide an environment conducive to development of self-esteem in boys and girls from the age of 5.   One-on-one and group mentoring relationships with adult volunteers. Big brothers and big sisters serve as positive role models and provide opportunities for new life experiences.

Volunteer Roles

Big Brother volunteer: Men of good character who share 3 to 4 hours a week in a mutually enjoyable activity with a boy 5 – 14 who lacks a regular male influence. Big Sister: Adult female 18 years and older who spends 4 hours per week, for one year minimum with a little sister. Couple Matching Program volunteer: A unique two-to-one relationship where spouses can volunteer their time together with a boy or girl 3 to 4 hours each week.In-School Mentoring volunteer: Matches adult male and female volunteers to boys and girls 5 – 18 for an hour a week in the school.Big Bunch Volunteer: Adult female 18 years and older. 3 big bunch volunteers are matched with 2 girls from a waiting list who meet together to have fun every second week for 6 months.Associate member: Volunteer recruitment, administrative tasks, fundraising and group programs.
