Services

Mission: Creating & delivering exceptional literacy learning opportunities for the residents of Lambton County. Literacy Lambton (Organization for Literacy in Lambton) is a non-profit serving Sarnia-Lambton since 1989. Funded by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development to provide adults 19+ with FREE help to improve their reading, writing, math, basic computer skills and digital knowledge. Offered solely through generous community donors and sponsors, we offer Train Your Brain, a FREE play-based program helping elementary school-aged kids improve their math & reading skills. You will often spot us in the community championing the love of reading within Sarnia-Lambton. Read to your babies from birth and they will grow into passionate readers and successful learners.

Volunteer Roles

The lifeblood of Literacy Lambton is our volunteers! We are run by a volunteer governance Board. Various positions exist on our non-Board committees including Finance and Promotions. This can be an entry point into a Board role. Our volunteers help out in our adult learning space working 1:1 or in small group settings with our adult learners. Volunteers assist the smooth-running of our kids’ programs. Opportunities may exist for high school students to attain their volunteer hours. Contact us, info@literacylambton.org to see how your skills & interests match with a meaningful experience as a Literacy Lambton volunteer. All volunteers are interviewed to find the best fit and opportunity for you. Often, a police check is required and there is an orientation/on-boarding process.
